friday five

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
i like Xtreme sports now and then and i watch most of the olympics. i can't really watch mountain climbing, but i listen to the broadcasts from everest all season. hockey is cool if i get to sit at the glass.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?
i used to watch football faithfully until montana retired. (i am not a traitor, i went to high school in frisco). i had a fluffy teddy bear with a 49er cap and jersey named joe. i slept with him. if i tell you the color of his jersey, it really gives away my age.
but my favorite athletes are definitely climbers. i am an everest junkie and stay glued to climbing season. scott fisher, rob hall.....i followed them until the very end.

3. Are there any sports you hate?
people call hunting a sport. that pisses me off.

4. Have you ever been to a sports event?
well, yeah.....

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?
i played volleyball up to 10th grade.

Volleyball - the greatest sport ever invented. It combines teamwork with individual play. Unlike basketball there can be no "ball hog". Quickness, strategy, 3 dimensional perception, timing, & agility are all essential elements. An over-reliance on one will not lead to victory.

The best thing about volleyball is that there is a need for all body types (unlike basketball). The best player I ever saw was a man who was about 5 feet tall. He obviously couldn't block, but he was a great setter & defensive player. Why? Because he was the last man before the ball hit the floor.

To me there is nothing more fun than when a v-ball team is playing together, moving in unconscious unison, covering the floor & anticipating the ball.

I play every week.

do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
