i am determined to take a vacation this year. i haven't had a vacation since 1997. my out of the country ventures don't count. they were working vacations. i've always taken working vacations. i will set myself up for a couple of weeks working in a refugee camp, in an orphanage, teaching, etc.... this year, i want to be selfish.
where shall i go?
what shall i do?

i can't leave the center except perhaps during the xmas holidays when i can probably cancel all classes....maybe from december 18 - january 2.

i like going to Europe in the winter. Its not for everyone but if you don't mind cold weather you can get some fantastic deals on air and hotels. We recently spent the holidays in Amsterdam and it was lovely--three of the best weeks i've ever spent (and with pneumonia too!).

i am not a big fan of europe. i much rather developing countries. i want badly to go to the middle east, but now is not the time. before i left india i had planned an entire train trip from dharamsala, india to cairo, egypt, through pakistan, a corner of afghanistan, iran, iraq, saudi, jordon. i wanted to go back through isreal, just in case isreal stamped my passport and i could come home to get a new one.

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?
long skirts and hoop earrings
do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
