ha, i hate chicory too! that stuff is for the tourists.... real southerners know it was just a coffee substitute during hard times :)
i don't know about saving coffee with a press. i have a press, but not a pot. i love my press! i like mine strong too and am partial to sumatra, which is what i usually use in my press. even if you do use more coffee in a press, you don't use electricity :)

My morning pot of COFFEE is very important to me, sometimes its the only reason to get out of bed. As far as electricity use goes, got it covered with the following (1) 8 cup MR COFFEE stainless jug 120 volt ac
(2) 12 volt DC coffee pot (from 18 wheeler days)
(3) 1960's aluminum drip pot (grandmothers coffee pot)
I live in a 1964 GM 4106 retired greyhound bus converted to a motor coach, and have a 7 K watt generator to provide electricity if needed, but would probably just boil water and use the drip pot.James in da GRAYDAWG

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
