green frog

no more 'poo

It has been over a year now since I've purchased shampoo or conditioner.  Even considering I cut all my hair off over the summer, that's a lot of plastic bottles.  I was a bit leery taking up the "no 'poo" alternatives, especially worried my head would smell like a salad with apples.  I've been quite pleased.  Despite hating the length of my hair as it grows back, the difference is quite noticeable.    It is thicker, shinier and softer....and I don't smell like salad at all.  In fact, I've been experimenting a lot with the apple vinegar rinses.  I almost always drop in a cinnamon stick at the very least.  One morning, while trying to figure out if there was something I could do with the orange peels from my hand juicer, I tossed in some orange rind as well.  Spices, essential oils, even juice.  The scents don't seem to last as long as commercial products but then again I am not leaving a coat of chemicals on my hair.  I don't know if the key is the baking soda wash or the vinegar rinse, or just the complete lack of commercial chemicals, but it has worked well for me.  I would imagine I've saved a decent dollar amount too!
So, now my goal is to get rid of something/s every day so that there is less to move into the van when the time comes.   I don't need a utensil set for six (four maybe... i seem to lose forks a lot), one pot should do... microwave, toaster oven (that has been in the dockbox almost since I bought it)....
Tomorrow, all of last year's and January's The Economist goes, even though I keep saying I'll find time to catch up with them.
