my mom has decided to do an interview with the tv show Snapped! i think it is a big mistake. this is not a news journal show. it is a show about women who...well, snap, and kill. mom says they are not going to treat it that way...but to try and give a defensive view of my sister's case. i think mom is naive. she finally quit asking me to do these interviews. i don't trust the media....heavens, who could? doesn't it seem a show like this assumes the women they portray are guilty? they snapped..... not that they are accused of snapping.... grrr
she received a list of interview questions and i made her promise any about me (there were two or three) were completely off limits. she just doesn't understand why i won't talk to the press. i just don't understand why i would! both the dateline and 48 hours shows seemed rather negative to me. why would a show like this be any different?

You're right, she's wrong. Has she talked to her lawyer? Nothing good could possibly come of this.

she claims there are notarized statements from Snapped and my sister's attorneys that they have final approval of the show. i suppose it is possible, but it is still sensationalism. i think she wants desperately to try and spin all the negative media during the trial into something more positive (if there can be such a thing) for the appeal. a fair trial of such a high profile case is near impossible...i just think they have a better chance if they stay out of the media completely.
i've been catching up on months of livejournal (i tend to come and go from here)... you have had quite the year, i hope things are calming down for you. :)

Thanks-things are slowly calming down for me. I still think the show is a bad gamble. TV producers are never your friends; they want a story and a show. To me, it seems that there are just too many ways this could backfire-but I'm not an attorney, and hopefully my concerns are unfounded.

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?

do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
