i got hooked on emusic. i wasn't so sure at first...given the monthly subscription cost (so low), i figured the music would be rather obscure even though i love indie music. i was surprised to see all of gogol bordello's releases. i happened to catch one of his videos a few years ago on worldlink tv and had to have everything of his and find out everything about him. pretty cool stuff. this is the one that got me started:

tonight i took a break from studying and watched this amazing show on national geographic, population 0, about what becomes of the world if all the humans were to suddenly disappear. definitely see it!

spring break is here and along with a few papers to write i am determined to finish the work on the big boat. i've been waiting on some wood work to be completed so i can do the whole thing at once, but i've challenged myself to learn how to do it on my own. bah...we'll see how that goes. :)

Most people get started off with Start Wearing Purple. I downloaded a bunch of Gogol Bordello albums, and need to listen to more of them. I've only really listened to that one, Wanderlust King, and Super Theory of Super Everything, which I think you'd like a lot. I first heard them on the movie Everything is Illuminated, where the current lead singer actually plays one of the main characters. Which, my the way, if you haven't seen that, I suggest that you do. I think you would like it a lot; it's a wonderful movie. I really ought to read the book.

We need to hang out more, yes?

Good luck with the boat! (:

i desperately want to see them in concert...he is so dynamic. i keep an eye on his schedule. i'm willing to travel a bit :)
i did a research paper on gypsy music last year and included him along with a czech rapper, Gypsy.cz (that is actually the name he uses, including the dot cz, but pronounced say zet). there is a movie i keep meaning to order as well that chronicles his return to the Ukraine, called The Pied Piper of Hutzovina. rather than explain, here is the link: http://www.thepiedpiperofhutzovina.com
i am ordering Non-stop too...which is a behind the scenes documentary.
have you seen the video with him and madonna? they have some upcoming stuff together.

With Madonna? No, I didn't hear. That sounds so crazy.

I'd like to help out if I can get the chance around then. Depends on whether or not I have work and school. There is much more working recently, and a little less school (as I dropped from 18 to 12 hours). But, let me know and I'll try my best. (:

It wasn't /that/ awkward, really. I just didn't know what to do, is all.

Also, you may have seen this before, but I think you might like this comic - betapwned.com

It's one of those diary type comics, where someone is just making comics out of their life pretty much. Most people I know don't like it and it seems kind of bland to them, maybe it's more of a grown-up or a women's comic, but I think my liking it so much has to do with reading it from the very beginning and being interested in her life. It's made by this woman who is relatively sexually open, has fibromyalgia, and is a complete nerd and internet junkie.

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
