Gen. Pace's Successor Is Sworn In

"I just want everyone to understand that this dialogue is not about ‘can we vote our way out of a war."
point: america is a republic, not a democracy.

"We have an enemy who has declared war on us."
truth: 9/11 was an act of war, not terrorism
lie: those who committed that act of war have something to do with our act of war in iraq

"They want to stop us from living the way we want to live our lives."
goal: make americans feel their way of life is directly threatened.

"we have individuals who are more interested in making somebody else look bad than they are in finding the right solution"
who: ummm, the US government?

Thank you for the thumbs up :) I'm experimenting with LJ writing communities, looking for one that feels like home. Give me a heads up if you run across any good ones!

same for you, please. with so many LJ'ers, i am surprised there are so few good, critical ones - but constructive, unbiased critique :)

"truth: 9/11 was an act of war, not terrorism"

What are your definitions of "war" and "terrorism"?

Terrorism is the war of the poor, and war is the terrorism of the rich.
~Sir Peter Ustinov

i've always been fond of that definition. in regards to 9/11, i believe two things made it an act of war (both for which i have been called an apologist): 1. we were warned, just as the US "warned" Iraq; and 2. it was retaliation. the US government defines it as violence or the threat of violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological. given that definition the US government is most certainly guilty of terrorist acts, even against her own people - our government may not directly use the threat of violence toward us, but it does constantly attempt to keep us living in fear....scared people behave well.
i've just wondered why, if we consider 9/11 terror, we don't consider the same for our acts in cuba, nicaragua, libya, kosovo.....and so many more.
we need to define *and* apply it across the board.

was thinking about you this morning.... hope you are holding up ok :)

don't fear death
melissa muses (or maia, you choose)

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?
long skirts and hoop earrings
do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
