i can't decide where i want to go over the summer.... eastern europe is seeming less appealing. the opposite way more appealing. help me out here....
do i...
do the eastern europe thing from istanbul, winding my way through eastern europe back to prague.
go south from istanbul to syria, jordon, israel, cairo, tripoli, tunisia to italy and back to prague.
any other suggestions?
i probably need some kind of plan soon. plan....ugh
of course i could just get to istanbul and decide from there.... maybe more my style.

Istanbul...yeegh...Islamic country makes me very wary. Can you not just go west? What about Scandinavia? It's summertime; Norway, Sweden & Finland must be spectacular right now.

lol we are totally different travelers.
i love islamic countries. morocco was the friendliest country i have ever visited. i spent only one day in istanbul and definitely want to visit it more. i like under developed countries. while prague is beautiful and cultural, i miss the joy of simple life. and i am beginning to think i should see egypt....

Oh, I like the simple life very much as well. It's probably because all I know of it is what I hear in the mainstream US media (garbage, I know), but I always get this feeling that I am very likely to do something in an Islamic country for which the punishment is being stoned to death.

just don't compare islamic countries to the taliban ;)
turkey, for example, is the largest islamic country, but look how moderate, politicaly and culturally, it is.

You could always catch the reverse of some (or a version of some) of the stops in "A Passage to Bangkok by RUSH". In that song I think they mentioned Bogota, Jamaica, Acapulco, Morocco, Lebanon, Afghanistan & Katmandu.

i actually thought about kathmandu and over to tibet to see a friend. but, too many visas required for overland and flights are outrageously expensive.
i think i suck at planning and just going to take it a day at a time and see where i end up!

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?

do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
