Former Bush Company dancer wanted for murder
Tuesday, October 3, 2006 - by Jill Burke

Anchorage, Alaska - A former exotic dancer from the Great Alaskan Bush Company is wanted for the murder of an Alaska fisherman 10 years ago. The body of 36-year-old Kent Leppink was discovered near Hope. He had suffered gunshot wounds to the back, head and abdomen. Alaska's cold case unit indicted two people for his murder last week. One of them is Leppink's former fiancée, Mechele Hughes. She remains at large. According to court records, Leppink was one of three men Hughes had simultaneously promised to marry, all of whom she met at the Bush Company. Prosecutors say she had taken a $1 million insurance policy out of her groom-to-be a month before he died. The other suspect is one of Hughes’ alleged other fiancés, former Wasilla resident John T. Carlin III. The 49-year-old was arraigned today in Anchorage and is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond. Fearing something bad might happen, Leppink sent a letter to his father days before he died, implicating Hughes and Carlin in his death. The letter goes on to ask his father to “bring them down” so that he might rest easier.

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?
long skirts and hoop earrings
do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
