i am sure i am the only human around in a 5 mile radius. usually it doesn't bother me.... tonight just seems creepy! i wish more people would come home.... especially out on the lake!

I had nights like that when I lived up on the mountain. Most of the year, I actually appreciated being in the wild, in the middle of nowhere, in the most unpopulated part of a subdivision that would never be more populated owing to the difficulties the surrounding terrain presented to any potential builders.

But in the Autumn and Winter months, it would get so quiet, and the wind blowing through the myriad trees and rock formations tended to make THE most creepy noises. And given the way sound carried on the mountain, one could never be completely certain what a particular sound was or where it was coming from. I heard a number of very peculiar things up there.

And then there were the coyotes. *shivers* Four-legged banshees, I tell you.

ANYWAY...Just wanted you to know I can relate. I'd cheerfully offer to come keep you company, if it weren't for that pesky "geographic distance" problem.

i know it is just the wind. we've had a few stray looters, but i think, for the most part, they are done here. i am just not used to being the only boat afloat in the marina!

I was just thinking about you this morning and then I saw this post on my friend's list. How strange is that?

How are you??

Glad to hear that you're back home! I saw the picture of your new boat. I no nothing about boats, but it looks very nice.

Funny, I was thinking of applying to Tulane Law School right before Katrina hit. I still would like to, but I'm not sure yet.

I was reading some of your poems just now and was struck by, not only the beauty of your words, but how similar they are to things I've either experienced or am experiencing, or long to experience etc. You have quite a gift.

I'd love to chat with you sometime, via email or IM maybe? If you're up for it, of course.

Gah! I know nothing about boats, not no. I saying no to the cat at the exact moment I was typing that, and it came out all wrong. sorry!

wandering does not make you a "gypsy."
why would you call yourself
after those who have no home?
long skirts and hoop earrings
do not make you a "gypsy."
why do you call yourself after
those who have no clothes?

"gypsy" is pejorative. please don't perpetuate the stereotype. educate yourself on what it really means to be a "gypsy" in this world.
